Last week I had a wonderful time during my short trip to Hamburg, which allowed me to take a break from uni studies and some emotional stress. The reason for my short less-than-24h- trip was an invitation from Douglas allowing me to be part of their exclusive launch celebrations for their very first and very own Make Up line, which started with a blogger breakfast and finally getting to know the faces behind the various mails and the pretty amazing Douglas team.
If you're from Europe there is no way you don't know Douglas. If you don't, Douglas is pretty much your destination for High End products from Chanel to Lancome, Estée Lauder to M.A.C., Benefit Cosmetics and Co. It's the only place I know of to go to when looking for good Make Up and I'm ready to splurge a bit. It's also the only place I shop for beauty presents. Until recently Douglas only sold other brands, for the first time you'll be able to buy their own Make Up line.
We started with a delicious breakfast with all the girls and we which really turned into a beautiful relaxed event, that didn't get boring and we got to do what bloggers love and do best: play with make up and Instagram,Instagram, Instagram! from a greatly lit location. #bestselfielight everrr!
So here's what you've been waiting for, let's talk Make Up!
The price range for Douglas Make-up sets itself among your high end products.
You'll be seeing their huge counters in their stores now. And their range is still growing. Douglas Make-up will be releasing seasonal looks as a form of shopping guide, an inspiring way to consume their goodies. I had the chance to get to know the first three looks.
COOL PINK
Is a cute spring make up look. Blossoming and pink. I was excited for this look, because just a couple of days before I prepared a similiar look for my Youtube account and Blog. I'm definitely loving this look, but unfortunately the products used for this creation are nothing for me. Too light, not so well pigmented and unfortunately go white on me (Eyeshadow and Creme Blush to be exact.)
Douglas does however have a much larger range, we didn't get to see and try every single product of course. So I might stop by and try creating this look with different shades of pink from their range.
Other than that stay excited for my spring beauty look coming soon! ;)
A DAY IN PARIS
Oh Pareee! The Paris line is all about celebrating red lips and the color red. Part of my personal favorite products from Douglas new and very own Make Up line is the nail polish from the Paris look and the red lipstick. Vibrant red, well pigmented in a great shade and hue.
SMOKEY BLUE
Was by far my favorite look in terms of products. Now you know I'm a sucker for red lips, but I'm ready to change it up a little and step up my make up game. Smokey Blue is about creating the classic smokey eye but in blue shades. It can be very dramatic and daring or not-so casual casual depending on intensity and the shades you use. I was very surprised (in a good way!) on how true to color these products were even on my dark skin. (See the swatch above, hover over the image for product details) This doesn't happen often to me. Even the most highly pigmented beauty products tend to have a slightly different shade on my skin due to my complexion.
I can only praise the eyeshadows, the eyeshadow pen and eyeliner used for the Smokey Blue look, also because their shade and hue complement my skin well. And this is a look I'm really looking forward to trying out.
I am a big fan of their silver packaging, their very own Make Up brushes come in the same finish and the foundations look very high end.
I RECOMMEND
Lipstick Nr. 1 Jolie Rose <3<3<3<3 If you missed my snapchat story, this is the lipstick I've been talking about!*.*
Eyeshadow Pen Nr. 11 Rock My Love <3<3<3<3 But used as eyeliner ;)
Eyeshadow Nr. 35 <3<3<3 Perfect to create a blue smokey eye or try new looks using color. For the bold and brave. Matte finish
Lipstick Nr. 16 Rouge Pompier <3<3<3<
I DON'T RECOMMEND
Creme Rouge Rose Rabbit (----) not well pigmented and the shade didn't look good on any of us girls really :( On dark skin it goes white. Dislike!
Eyeshadow Nr. 4 (---) and feels a bit like children's Make Up
After the blogger morning we continued to a secret location for the press event in attendance of some of Germany's stars, like models Eva Padberg and Franziska Knuppe. And further surprises.
The second location was even more breathtaking than the first. It was a short cab ride to the heart of Hamburg, long enough to update my snapchat story with ugly carfies - add me loisopoku.
I was beyond happy to spend some time with my überbae Mehtap, finally finally hold my Luise (who btw is currently living it up on a cruise through the Caribbean with the funniest team - you know how much I love the people over at Onepiece) back in my arms (we see each other way to little babe!), hug my favorite twins Desi&Nisi who just came back from a very lush Australia trip, spend time with familiar faces and get to know new ones like Vivien Sophie from A Classy Mess. (Check out her Insta AMUs (eye make up looks)!)
Also I finally met the other Opoku of the Internet, Farina from NovaLanaLove. #OpokuSelfie ftw.
The official media presentation event took place at the top of the Emporio tower overlooking the amazing view above Hamburg. The lounge was reserved for invited guests of media, press and special guests. Here if first saw the Douglas Make-Up counter in all its glory, which btw are huge. They're range is endless.
We sipped drinks and ate finger food talked all things beauty and blogging until one by one we had to leave for our trains and it was time to say goodbye to Hamburg.
I had a lovely time in Hamburg. THANKS SO MUCH Douglas for having me! Are you guys going to try out the new Douglas products? :)
Love Lois xxx
