This season was my first time backstage, backstage at a runway show. Backstage frenzy is mad. Mad in a capturing way - somewhat like a New York Minute. So many people in one room, everyone working their best. From photographers, to cameramen and video teams, interviewers and journalists for important magazines getting exclusives and in between the models have to get changed, dressed - but at least everyone has their own personal dresser. It's mad how everyone waits in line to shoot their two questions at Alena Akhmadullina while she takes minutes of her precious time to conversate, while she's still trying to keep a check on everything happening backstage because she's minutes away from her big moment. The moment her models walk the runway in her creative vision for the world to see.
Make up artists touching up the models, assistants checking that every girl is in their right clothes and Alena making final changes to the looks and the order in which the looks will be presented. Coming closer to the show it gets super hectic.
It's all about perfecting the final touches.
But in between it all, the models still have time for selfies and laughs. I'm so lucky I got to go backstage and then also for such a great designer. Lucky to have touched the dresses, smiled at the models and captured the frenzy. I got to see the collection just minutes before the show and I actually had a closer look. I stood there as Alena made final changes with her assistants before she called "READY." And then I had to rush back to the front, take my seat and wait for the show, I knew 100% was going to be good, to commence. Huge thanks to SvR for making the backstage passes for Carina and me happen and letting me experience the other side of things of it for once.
As for the show itself? It was amazing. Not only was it one of my favourite shows of the day, it was one of my favourites from the entire Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. I loved the entire collection and I have to say Alena Akhmadullina's fashion is beautiful. She has some serious timeless pieces in her collection and I'm a big fan of the color palette she used for her designs, from camel to ashy red and browns but also vibrant blue and emerald. Loved it. Especially the camel looks and her printed dresses. Ah! Wish I could have myself a bit of Alena Akhmadullina in my closet.
